Onya Nurve Named HOT’s Inaugural ArtReach Fellow!

We are thrilled to announce that Onya Nurve (She, He, They) has been selected as HOT’s inaugural ArtReach Fellow!

ArtReach Fellowship: ArtReach Fellows are talented LGBTQI2S+ artists who have a track record of community service. They embrace HOT’s unconventional approach of community outreach by helping people on the streets and at bars, clubs, pop-up parties, and community events. HOT is partnering with ArtReach Fellows to harness the power of art and trust to connect more LGBTQI2S+ people to emergency help. ArtReach Fellows are awarded a $500 microgrant to enhance the impact of their art and community service.

About Onya Nurve: Onya Nurve, a Queer, Black, Nonbinary entertainer and community leader from Cleveland, Ohio, embodies the spirit of ArtReach. They have supported dozens of LGBTQI2S+ individuals, offering mentorship in sewing, makeup artistry, performance, and employment access.

Onya’s dedication to uplifting the next generation of Black Queer artists has had a profound impact on the Cleveland drag art scene, propelling it onto the national stage where it rightfully belongs. Their tireless efforts to mentor and support emerging artists have enriched the local community and garnered recognition and admiration from audiences beyond Cleveland. Onya’s contributions have helped the Cleveland drag scene flourish. This spotlight on Cleveland’s drag artistry is long overdue, and Onya’s contributions have been instrumental in highlighting the city’s rich cultural heritage and artistic excellence.

Onya’s Vision: “Mentoring and developing the next generation of Black Queer artists is one of my greatest passions,” says Onya Nurve. “I am thrilled to be selected as HOT’s inaugural HARP fellow to encourage LGBTQI2S+ leaders and foundations to support Haus of Transcendent’s efforts to create affordable housing.”
